A Song A Week 22: The Hitmaker Algorithm – Sad Song Redux

Many of you have probably already heard the songs I did for The Hitmaker Algorithm, but if not you can hear the original three songs on myspace. The Hitmaker Algorithm is a character in my comic The Ballad of YFB, which is in turn based on the upcoming tow knee chavez album. The Hitmaker Algorithm/ YFB split EP serves as a companion to the album, and songs related to each (or different versions of songs from the EP) will appear on the album.
This song was originally meant to be part of the album, but about a month ago we decided to cut it because it doesn’t work with the flow of the album, and isn’t really necessary for the plot of the album. I cut the time down some from the original, but it’s still the longest song I’ve ever recorded vocals for. The music is the same as the original version, but with new lyrics involving the plot. There are actually four vocal tracks: a clean track and three different vocoders to make the voice roboty.
