Pigeon John, one of my all time favorite rappers, had a new album come out a few weeks ago and I thought it would be fun to do a punk cover of it. I obviously underestimated how hard it would be to find time to record everything, so this song ended up being three weeks late. I’m not 100% happy with it, but I’m not sure when I’d get a chance to record again so I’m posting it as is.
Another Hitmaker Algorithm punk cover. The vocals on this one were a ton easier than on Blank Generation, mostly because the timing was a lot easier. The plan is still to keep doing these for now since I can mostly do them while I’m still in a sleepless haze, but I’m considering doing a different cover with guitars for next week. We’ll see…
I fell a little behind with my days being swallowed by a baby and what not, but I’m catching up. This is last week’s song. I recorded this week’s song at the same time and will post it on Monday.
This was the second song we ever talked about doing, and the one that made us decide to do a whole band of Sesame Street covers. I’m not sure what took us so long to choose this one to actually record.
I started working on this song a little over three weeks ago. Then I got bronchitis and didn’t have the energy to record. Last week I forced myself to push through and record anyway, and Bren sent me his vocals the next day. Then Ashley went into labor… Tonight I finally listened to all of Bren’s vocal takes and mixed the song. Every time Bren sends me his vocal takes, he includes some funny outtakes. This time I decided to use one as an intro.
If you couldn’t guess from the title, this week’s song is a sort of sequel/ companion to last week’s. It’s another instrumental, and to add an extra challenge I decided to only use the same instruments from last week.
