A Song a Week 36: The Nemesis – The Confusion That Causes Pain

September 10th, 2010

I didn’t feel up to recording guitars or vocals this week, so I did an electronic instrumental piece. I had originally planned to do a sad, contemplative song (I think this might be my first song in a minor key), but it didn’t quite work out that way. I’m still pretty happy with where it ended up though.

A Song A Week 35: The Nemesis – Library Books (Upside Down Cat cover)

September 3rd, 2010

I’ve been avoiding covers for a while but I got the new Upside Down Cat album last weekend and had to cover a song off it. It was a tough choice, but I decided Library Books was the most like something I would have written. The original is keyboard driven with female vocals, so I thought it would be fun to punk it up a little. Listen to the original and let me know what you think of my version.

A Song A Week 34: The Nemesis – Five Years

August 27th, 2010

This is the serious song I wanted to do last week, in honor of the five year anniversary of my marriage to one Ashley Friend (now Ashley Brassea). This song is a little longer than last week’s… I’m up to 43 seconds!

A Song A Week 33: The Nemesis – Gangsta Rappers Growing Up

August 20th, 2010

Another quick, fun punk song. I think this might be my shortest song to date, clocking in at 38 seconds. It took much longer to write than it should have…

I wanted to do a more serious song this week, but I didn’t have the time to make it as good as it needed to be. Hopefully next week.

A Song A Week 32: The Nemesis – Running Through my Mind

August 13th, 2010

It was time for another punk track. I started with the title, then decided to make it literal, which of course makes the song about Scott Pilgrim.

You might notice the player looks different this week… Virb has changed their service, so I’m going to be hosting my songs through SoundCloud. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to go through the archive and update all the songs.
